From Langkawi to Bandung: Nurul Husna joins a sustainability programme in Indonesia
11 August 2026
Nurul Husna, now in Semester 6 of her eight-semester Honours degree in Human Resource Management at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Kedah, recently joined a Mobility, Business and Sustainability programme in Bandung, Indonesia.
Part of the programme involved interviewing a local community to gain insights into the issues in their lives. From what they learned, Nurul Husna and her team developed a proposal to help the villagers generate income by highlighting and promoting the tourism potential of their village in a sustainable way.
Nurul Husna is passionate about helping local communities. She describes the programme as a meaningful experience, working closely with the villagers and transforming their ideas into a proposal that could contribute to the community's future development.
The programme itself was sponsored, but the Charity Club paid for her airfares and also recently bought her a new laptop - essential equipment for her studies.

Congratulations to Raj Kumar who has successfully completed his Bachelor of Public Management (Hons). The Charity sponsored Raj's tuition for secondary school, starting in 2017, followed by two years of 6th form. We are proud to announce that he has now completed 4.5 years (9 semesters) of a Bachelor of Public Management (Hons), which he paid for himself, except for his monthly visits to the campus which Rotary Club of Belfast-Kaipoi funded.
He did a Distance Learning course with UUM Malaysia. During all of the time we sponsored him he worked part time to support himself.
He has just taken end of course exams with results due in July, and has an internship for 4 months in the Finance Department of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Langkawi.
